Niamh appointed to QAA Student Strategic Advisory Committee
Your Education Officer, Niamh McAuley, has recently been appointed as a member of the Quality Assurance Agency’s (QAA) Student Strategic Advisory Committee (SSAC).
The QAA is a world-leading quality agency that provides impartial quality assurance within higher education. It is an independent charity, but works closely with governments, funding bodies, and universities.
The Student Strategic Advisory Committee provides strategic advice and insight to the QAA Board. It is made up of a range of sector specialists and a small number of student representatives (now including Niamh).
Each year the committee identify the key issues related to quality and standards that matter most to students. The committee then investigates these priority issues and produces resources that inform the work of institutions within the higher education sector. In 2025/26, the committee identified “cost of engagement”, “supporting students to understand AI” and “standardising student engagement across QAA” as their main concerns.
