Nominations for Full Time Officer Positions have now closed. Candidate’s manifestos can be read online – Voting for all positions takes place in Week 8 as in the timetable below.
Being an FTO
The Full Time Officers are 6 students that are paid a full salary and work every weekday to direct and organise everything that LUSU does. There are 6 positions available, all with responsibility for different aspects of the Union. The salary is just over £17,000 and the experience you gain is unparalleled, although at times it can be incredibly demanding! You’ll need to be proactive in helping students, and be prepared to go that extra mile to ensure things get done.
Why stand?
There are loads of reasons to stand for an FTO position. You have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of students in Lancaster. No two days are the same when you’re an FTO – from running Roses to running campaigns, it’s never dull! Finally, it’s an experience that few other graduates will have until much later on in their careers – as Trustees of the Union, FTOs have financial and reputational responsibilities over an organisation that employs over a hundred people. Now that’s something to shout about!
Who can stand?
Virtually any student can stand to be a Full Time Officer! You can run to be an FTO whether or not you’ve been on a JCR. You don’t need to have been involved in any societies. First, second, third AND fourth years can run. (You would take a year out from your studies during your year in office.) It doesn’t even matter whether you’ve run for a position within LUSU before.
