Elections happen once every term and running in them is a great chance to get more involved in the Students’ Union by representing your fellow students on many different levels.
Voting in elections is quick and easy to do and means you are having a say on the people that represent you in everything from academic issues to campus events and socials. Voting takes place in week 8 of every term.
As your representative body, we make sure that we are student-led with students at the heart of everything we do. Your elected Full Time Officers are trustees and directors of the Students’ Union and our commercial services, and the Executive Committee is made up of elected student representatives. We run elections for different positions in the Students’ Union every term, where we ask our members – all Lancaster University students – to have their say on who leads their Union.
Any student can run to be an officer, but we appreciate that there are more considerations for some than others, so why not check out the following information for specific guidance for International, EU, Postgraduate Taught and Research students. More information
We use the single transferrable voting (STV) method. This means that at least a majority of voters (over 50%) must prefer a candidate before they can win. For voters, it means that you don’t just vote for your favourite candidate, but you can let us know who is your second favourite, your third favourite, and so on.
