Ever wanted to run an enterprising activity such as a restaurant or take away night, a cookery class or workshop and put your cooking and enterprising skills to the test?

Now you can!

The Students’ Union and the Deli on campus offer the opportunity to student groups and societies to take over the space, make use of the cooking equipment and organise their own food related events.

Who can participate? 

Both students and staff can apply. In similar events in the past students worked on projects inspired by national cuisines or types of diet like vegan. So find your team and join us! 

Will I get any support for my project?

Absolutely, depending on the project the Students' Union will provide you with some funding for decoration, ingredients and other costs associated with the project. Moreover we will offer advice and support in planning and promoting your event. We will also provide groups with licenses for the food hygiene training as needed. Finally we will show you around the kitchen of the Deli so that you are confident you can handle everything you need, and we will be there on the day to help you make sure the event runs smoothly. 

So what are participants expected to do?

As a participant, you are expected to plan out and run the event sometime in the term depending on the availability of the venue. We recommend a 2 or 3 week lead time to allow for promotion but this can vary depending on the event.

Some of the things we would expect you to do include: 

• Finding a team to help you with the event
• Choosing a concept/theme for the night 
• Making a plan for it (what happens when, who does what) 
• Making a realistic budget for it and demonstrating you can make a profit. We will provide you a template to help you with that. 
• Making a promotional plan for it and follow through. 

On the day

You will have access to the space from 16:30 and you can open for the public whenever you prefer. We would expect you finish the event (including returning the space to the condition you found it) by 22:00 that night.
