Just play

Just Play is launching new Sportivate Clubs and recreational leagues!  Launching this term are two news leagues in addition to football and netball, these sports include mixed basketball & badminton, with the hope to run some social tournaments and knock out competitions.

The sports that we will be starting include Hockey and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) which will begin in term 1. Hockey will take place on a Thursday evening 5-6pm on Astro 2 and HIIT is on a Wednesday 7-8pm in A35.

Hockey

This year we welcome hockey to the Just Play timetable. After holding consultations with our students about the timetable of sports for 2016/17, Hockey was a popular favourite requested by our students.

If you’re looking to have fun outdoors and get in shape at the same time, field hockey is definitely the sport for you! Playing field hockey is an intensive cardiovascular workout that requires constant movement, including walking, jogging, and high-intensity sprints. The game works the arms, legs, hips, thighs, glutes, and abdominals. Field hockey players generally have superior endurance, hand-eye coordination, agility, and overall strength.

All equipment is provided and Activators will be on hand throughout the session to support participants.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

New to the Just Play project this year; HIIT is a type of interval training in which you alternate short, very high intensity intervals with longer, slower intervals to recover.

If you want to take your fitness to a new level, join us for high intensity interval training! All the sessions are adapted to suit the needs and fitness levels of each individual in the group.

All equipment is provided and Activators will be on hand throughout the session to support participants.

You can find out more about the launch of the new Sportive sessions here.

Registrations for all the leagues will be open during welcome week, registration forms can be picked up from LUSU or by contacting a.pridmore@lancaster.ac.uk
