Policy school

Are you a problem solver? Put your skills to use as a student researcher for the Policy School. This is your opportunity to work with policy makers in Government to influence real life policy challenges, culminating in an expenses-paid trip to London and the submission of your recommendations to government. You will gain valuable experience, demonstrate key skills valued by employers and get a taste of what it’s like to contribute to public policy.

Is it for me?

This opportunity would suit creative thinkers from any degree programme including those interested in postgraduate study, a career in the public sector, civil service or third sector. This opportunity will also count towards the Lancaster Award!

What will I do?

  • You’ll join a team of students from across campus to complete research on a high profile policy area (Industrial Strategy)
  • You’ll receive training and guidance from our Policy School Tutors
  • You’ll attend the Policy School at the Treasury in London on 10th March (travel expenses covered by us) where you’ll work with Government officials on workshops and discussions on the Industrial Strategy
  • As a team you’ll produce a short final report that will be submitted to the Cabinet Office (before the end of Lent Term).

How much of my time will it take?

This opportunity will take a few hours of your time a week to work with your team, complete research and receive training from our Policy School Tutors. The Policy School will be an exciting all-day event in London.

How do I get involved?

Let us know why you’d like to get involved, why you’d be a good addition to the team and how you think this opportunity would benefit you, by sending Lucy Sanderson l.sanderson2@lancaster.ac.uk a quick email before Wednesday 15th February.
