A bit of rain didn't stop open days

On September 3, Lancaster University held its third and final all campus open day of the year, and with 7000 attendees it was the busiest on record.

At the open days, while departments show off courses, people have a look around accommodation, and tours of campus are in full swing, it is the role of the students’ union to show off all of the amazing activities on offer. Of course, the best way to do this is to have the activities happening live on campus. We asked several clubs, societies, bands and acts to give up a few days of their summer holiday and help us out.

With a student life talk, led by two of your Full Time Officers and a team of 10 students, four pop-up union stalls around campus and one big main stage in Alexandra Square, it’s a big day and everyone really does get stuck in.

Altogether, around two hundred students made the students’ union presence at open days happen this year. As well as the live demos and performances, there are those that set up the marquees and tents, operate the sound and lighting, answer questions from prospective students and their parents, and of course, pack it all away again. Without these students, open days for us simply wouldn’t happen and we are incredibly grateful to each and every one of them.
