Are you are worried because you've recently had unprotected sex and you think you may be pregnant and want advice on your options?

Don't panic - help is at hand.

This section is designed to give you the basic information about what you can do, including what to do next and who to contact for more advice. The key thing is to act quickly and to get in touch with people who can help.

Before you do anything, you need to check whether or not you are pregnant. Pregnancy tests are very reliable and can be done 2 to 3 weeks after unprotected sex, or on the first day of a missed period. Before this time, the level of hormones produced by the pregnancy can be too low to show up on the test and you may get a 'false negative' result.

Pregnancy tests are available from:

· Your GP.

· The Nurse Unit for 50p.

· The Campus Pharmacy.

· The Family planning/ GUM clinic (Ashton).

· Boots the Chemist

· A Family Planning Clinic.

· A Brook or other young people's clinic

If you are using a home pregnancy testing kit it is important that you follow the instructions exactly, these tests are normally very reliable.

What to do next
