There are two sections to Inter College Sport. The first is a competition covering multiple events, known as The Carter Shield, and the second section is made up of various Inter College Leagues.

The whole programme of Inter College Sport is governed by the The Inter College Constitution which is a bye law of the LUSU constitution and can be downloaded here

Carter Shield

The Carter Shield programme is kicked off with the Old Skool Sports Day and this will take place on Sunday 12th October 2008

This is a fun packed day with teams taking part in old classics such as the wheelbarrow race. Everyone is welcome to attend and it is a brilliant way to start the Carter Shield year.

The Carter Shield is a programme of twelve events that are competed for throughout the year by teams from all nine colleges.

Taster Sessions

There is no need to book a place on these sessions so why not come down on your own, with a friend or even with a group of friends to try out for free the sports that will be competed for during the term. In the 1st and 2nd terms these will take place over three Sunday afternoons between 1pm and 4:30pm in the Sports Centre and then in the 3rd term they move on to the various grass pitches on campus. There is no charge and anyone will be able to go along and 'have a go' and in some cases even learn how to play the sport with a view to competing for their college in the events held on competition days. The sports reps will be present on all three days recruiting players for their teams but please do not worry as no pressure will be put on you.

For more information follow the link to the Taster Session page

Competition Days

Each sport available to try on the Taster Days is competed for up to the semi final stage over three separate Sunday's and all nine colleges are able to enter a team in any of the events

Carter Shield events are open to any student at Lancaster University whether they are a member of an Athletic Union sports club or not.

For more information follow the link through to the Competition Days page.

Finals Day

On the Sunday of week eight the semi finals and finals are played for all the sports that have been competed for in that term. To find out more please follow the link to the Finals Day page.
