The Higher Education Bill

Lobby your MP on the Higher Education and Research Bill

We're urging Lancaster students to write to their MPs asking them to back important changes to the controversial Higher Education and Research Bill before it receives final approval when Parliament returns from its Easter recess.

The House of Lords made numerous amendments to the Bill, including cutting the link between the Teaching Excellence Framework and higher tuition fees, removing international students from net migration figures, and automatically adding students to the electoral register. These changes followed months of consultation with and campaigning by students across the country, and we're urging the House of Commons to accept these changes before the Bill becomes law.

How do I do that?

We've created a template email to help you send your message. You can email Lancaster MP Cat Smith and/or the MP for your home constituency. It's important that you include your name and address (including postcode) when sending your messages.
