North Lakes 11th-12th May

We're running a shorter, one night trip up to the Lakes from Saturday 11th May to Sunday 12th May. We will be staying in threlkeld village hall, which is a short distance from Keswick. we are ideally situated to access crags such as Castle rock, Bramcrag quarry and others.

As with all trips we will be providing a cooked, vegan meal on the saturday night as well as breakfast, lunch and snacks for Sunday.

We will be sleeping on the floor of the village hall so you will need a sleeping bag and mat. We try to make our trips as accessible as possible so we will have a seperate quiet room, please indicate on the info form if you wish to be in here. If you have any questions about this please contact Ben Watson, our EDI officer.

We won't be having a pre-trip meeting.

You'll need to bring or borrow:

  • Waterproof Coat and Trousers (prepare for it to be wet!)
  • Hiking Boots or Approach shoes
  • Plenty of warm outdoorsy layers (not jeans); spare layers a good idea.
  • Hat & Gloves
  • Sunhat and suncream
  • Headtorch (+ batteries!) -
  • Water Bottle (1L+) & a Flask if you have one
  • Toiletries, towel etc.
  • Sleeping bag and sleeping mat
  • Any climbing gear you own (ie. Shoes, Harness, Helmet etc.); see the info form.
  • Rucksack to carry your kit to the crag.
  • Packed lunch and snacks for saturday

If you don't have access to any of these items, speak to us at the pre-trip meeting or message one of the exec and we'll sort you out. At this time of year, heading into the hills ill-equipped is a spectacularly bad idea and can end badly, so if you come onto the trip without having organised to borrow something you need, we may have to leave you in the hut for the day. Normal climbing kit can be borrowed via the Google form.

If you have any accessibility requirements, we would really like to hear about them and do whatever we can for you. We aim for our trips to be fully accessible.
