Description

The Lancaster Debating Union (LDU) is a welcoming society debating topics ranging from politics to pop-culture. We mostly practice and compete with British Parliamentary style debating, and offer our members the chance to compete in national and international debating competitions (both online and in-person) and teach in local schools.

Every Wednesday afternoon, we host training sessions for our members to help improve their argument building and public speaking skills. We also host termly public debates, normally on campus, in which LDU members can practice their public speaking. Lastly, we run biweekly socials, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic socials.

As well as being very enjoyable, competitive debating helps to give you the critical thinking and communication skills necessary for a successful future professional career. All students are welcome!
