Swimming is a very effective way of toning your body, using all your major muscle groups and benefitting both the body and the mind. The resistance of water can be 44 times greater than air, meaning you have to work harder to move through it. It’s like working out with weights or machines without the need for expensive equipment, which makes swimming an affordable way to strengthen your muscles.
For anyone that’s currently weighed down with exam and study stress, a survey completed by 400 swimmers undertaken by Speedo concluded that 74% agree that swimming releases stress and tension, 68% say that being in the water helps them to feel good about themselves and 70% feel mentally refreshed after swimming.
There are lots of students enjoying these benefits including Just Play student Adam Jarvey who said: “I like how casual and convenient the Just Play Swimming sessions are. It's helped me to keep fit and the coaching is there if you need it and want to improve your technique.”
