Where can I catch a bus from on Campus?

Most students catch a bus into town from the Underpass situated down either stair case in Alexandra Square. The bus service also covers the perimeter road and South West Campus (Alexandra Park). Local bus timetables are available from University House and the Information Desk. All servies from campus go into town with the 2/2A and 4 going via Bowerham and the X3 and 3 taking a more direct route.

For extra safety and security in the evening and at night a womens' bus operates from the Underpass to any location in town - as close to your front door as possible. It leaves the underpass at 30 minutes past each hour from 5.30pm until 11.30pm. It is free with a bus pass and costs 80p without.

How much are the tickets?

A single into town currently costs £1.30 and a return is £2.00.

Where do bus passes cover?

The Unirider bus pass covers unlimited travel in the Lancaster area including Morecambe, Heysham and Carnforth. It does not cover Galgate.

How long is the bus pass valid for?

You can buy three types of bus pass, a single term pass, a two term pass or a three term pass.

A single term pass covers the ten week period of a term.

A two term pass includes the vacation period between those two terms.

A three term pass covers all three terms as well as the two vacations. All passes expire on the last day of the term.

If you are staying in Lancaster for the summer vacation then you can purchase a bus pass for this period from the last week of the summer term.

How much does a bus pass cost?

As a rough guide, in the academic year 2007/08:

One Term £71.50, Two terms £124.50 and three terms £180.

The price for the summer vacation pass 2008 is £90.

There will be an Annual Pass on sale which allows unlimited bus travel between October 2008 and the end of September 2009.

Where can I buy a bus pass and what do I need?

You can buy a bus pass from the Students' Union Information Desk. All you will need is your library card and your payment, either cash or credit/debit card. There is an additional charge for credit cards of 1.5%.

Can my family members buy a bus pass?

You can only buy a bus pass if you have a University library card.

What happens if I lose my bus pass?

If you lose your bus pass or it is stolen you can check to see if has been handed in to security. You could also check with the library and the Information Desk to see if it has been handed in. Stagecoach will not automatically replace your bus pass if it is lost or stolen. For peace of mind we recommend that you insure your bus pass with your personal possessions cover so that in the event of a loss you will be able to claim.

Can I get a bus direct to the train station?

Yes, if you catch the X1 it will take you direct from the underpass to the train station.
