Polling

First things first, can you vote?

To vote in the May 4 elections you must be 18 or over, a British citizen, an EU citizen a qualifying Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland. You must also be registered to vote.

Am I registered?

Over 15000 Lancaster University students were registered to vote when they enrolled this academic year. So you are more than likely registered to vote in this election.

Where do I vote?

You will have a polling card that tells you this but if you aren’t sure you can find out more here. If you live on campus it will be either the Chaplaincy centre or Barker House Farm.

When Can I vote?

Polling stations are open until 10pm so just pop by your polling station when you have 5 minutes. If there is a queue your polling station, as long as you are in it before 10pm you should be allowed to vote.

What do I need to take with me?

Nothing. Just turn up them who you are and vote. They will even provide a pen.

What am I voting for?

This is a local election so you are voting for County Councilors.
