A group of six graduates have launched a new theatre company based on a collaboration that started as part of their studies.

David Callanan, Anna West, Louise Cross, Liz Duggan, Bea Sutton and Jack Madley formed Theatre 42 to continue the success of a show they created that explores themes of the future, human relationships with technology, and mortality. Using two projectors and 250 cardboard boxes, the actors construct and play out fragments of 1,000 different lives.

David, who works as member of the students' union events crew, said: "We developed the show as part of our degree. It was really well received.

"As a result of the good reception we then went on to further develop and refine that show and now it is being programmed by Lancaster Arts. We are then hoping to enter the show into a number of festivals and hopefully tour the work."

The group is being supported by production company Making Room, LICA and Lancaster Arts, and they are already making plans to develop a second show. Current student Will Dean will also be perfoming with the group as a stand-in for Louise, who has secured a place on a masters course in Amsterdam.
