We need your help to block another planning application that threatens the future of our Sugarhouse nightclub.

Plans have been submitted to convert former Lancaster City Council offices in St Leonard’s Gate into student accommodation – a plan that we believe could lead to the closure of the club as a result of noise complaints from nearby tenants.

The Sugarhouse is the biggest venue in the city, a key social space for students and a major contributor to the wider night-time economy of Lancaster.

That’s why we’re urging all students to lodge an official objection and help show the city’s planners that this new development mustn’t be allowed to go ahead without sufficient noise impact assessments.

You can lodge your objection online and it only takes a couple of minutes. All you need to do is:

Union Vice-president Sophie Tarif said: “We really hope as many students as possible will take a couple of minutes to help us stop this development.

“We know how important the Sugarhouse is to students and to the city, and it’s vital that we work together to stop a development that will harm the student experience that Lancaster offers.”
