Two former students' union staff members got engaged following a romantic public proposal in the university library this afternoon.

Former union student staff member Connor Monaghan enlisted the help of University of Lancaster Music Society's choir to create a magical atmosphere as he popped the question to girlfriend Alice Callaghan.

Onlookers were delighted as Alice, who also worked for the union as part of the Overseas team, said yes. The moment was captured on video and shared on social media within minutes.
