Have you ever wondered what it’s like to run an £8million charity? Do you want to know what your elected officers are doing on your behalf? Are you looking for the chance to build some incredible skills and learn about how charities and businesses grow and develop?

Lancaster University Students’ Union currently have two amazing opportunities for you to drive your Union and make sure that we are working in the best interests of students. The positions are open to any Lancaster University student and we’re looking for passionate, committed and able applicants to step forward.

Student Trustee

Our Trustee Board governs the Students’ Union and has ultimate responsibility for directing the charity. Trustees include our full-time elected officers, external members with an area of particular expertise, and – the most important part – students. We are currently looking for one Student Trustee to join the Board and to support us in making sure that the Students’ Union is running sustainably and doing all we can do to support and make the most for our members.

Trustees have a huge number of responsibilities, including overseeing all of the Students’ Union’s finances, making sure we’re legally compliant, monitoring the Union’s performance and management, and challenging our strategies to deliver on our promises to students. In this post you’ll gain a host of skills that will transfer to any workplace and look incredible on your CV.

Scrutiny Panellist

The student Scrutiny Panel is brand new this year and your chance to grill your elected officers about what they’re doing and how it is in the best interests of student members. You’ll gain skills in analysis, communication, and digging to the route of issues – all qualities that will set you one step ahead of other graduates on your CV. You’ll also have the chance to set up and run your own sub-committees on particular issues, and make sure your Students’ Union is being transparent about our work, finances and business.

We’re recruiting for a number of Scrutiny Panellists from across the University, so make sure you take up this opportunity and apply today!
