This weekend saw the biggest gathering of University darts in the country. The annual University Darts UK tournament was held in Sheffield this year and was the biggest yet, with 34 teams from 15 Universities entering the team event and 283 people entering the singles.

Lancaster entered 3 teams into the event, Men’s 1st, captained by George McDermott and Alastair Morrison , Men’s 2nd captained by John Janes and Jack Caffelle, and a Women’s team captained by Nicola Cresswell.

It came close to an all Lancaster final when the 1st and seconds made it to the semi-finals but it was not to be and the firsts met York in the final. Lancaster won when the game ended 4-2 after a double 18 from Ross Pickering sealed the deal. Lancaster last lifted the trophy 2 years ago in Nottingham Trent.

Lancaster saw less success in the singles event on the Saturday but took a strong 12 through to the top 64 and alumni Mike Gladstone the most successful Lancaster representative being taken out in the top 16.

If you want to know more about darts at Lancaster you can see the society website here and catch them at Roses on Saturday 29 April.
