O option

On Wednesday week 9 the LUSU Executive is co-opting its next Disabled Students’ Officer and it could be you! The co-option is being held as our previous Disabled Students’ Officer resigned. The Students’ Union has this role as it is important that a diverse range of student voice is heard throughout our democratic structures at each and every level in order to make change and campaign on issues that are relevant to our members.

The Officer is expected to sit on LUSU Executive and help set the main policy agenda for the Union in addition to running the Disabled Students’ Forum, campaigning on issues within their manifesto and those that matter to their electorate.

Past Disabled Students’ Officers have campaigned on: Intercalation, Disabled Students’ Allowance cuts, Mental Health and Dyslexia, which have raised awareness and made an active change on campus.

In order to run for this role you have to self-define as disabled and present a short minute’s speech to the Executive on Wednesday 15th March at 1pm in the LUSU Boardroom. If you would like to express interest please email lusu.elections@lancaster.ac.uk
