Students who have been part of our Academic Rep scheme have helped bring forward a number of changes in the last year in response to feedback from their classmates.

Each year the Academic Rep scheme gives students to chance to represent students at course level as well as giving participants opportunity to take part in a development scheme designed to give them skills for life.

Our reps have dozens of achievements to their names this year, but highlights include:

  • History rep Morgan Saunders (pictured) successfully extended book loan times for third year students
  • Samuel Shelley (Biomedical and Life Sciences) worked to get more copies of textbooks in library
  • Joseph Clerin (Medicine) worked with the department to increase access to teaching resources
  • Pari Dimakou (Phd Management) worked with the business school to get new software to help students with qualitative research
  • Mi Zhou (Management School) worked with the department to secure more manageable coursework deadlines after the disruption caused by the Storm Desmond flood and blackout
  • Clare Brewster & Rebecca Harding (Lancaster Environment Centre) compiled a series of ‘top tips’ which have been incorporated into the next handbook for new masters students, and drafted a Core Skill Assessment sheet which it has been agreed will be used to help assess the skills gaps in core academic & maths/stats skills when new students arrive.
