Bus passes for the local area
Uni-rider bus passes are available at the LUSU Information Desk
The opening hours during term time are Monday – Friday 9am* – 7pm and Saturday 11am – 5pm. Payment can be made in cash, by direct debit or by credit card (a 1.5% transaction fee is charged for credit cards).
If you live in town and frequently travel to campus you will find it cheaper and easier to have a bus pass. If you are living on campus you will find that you do not need a bus pass as it is cheaper to pay the bus driver for a return ticket when you pop into town.
How much does a pass cost?
Prices for Academic Year 2011 – 12
Summer term only – £86.00 – for travel within the term. Pass valid: 20/4/2012 30/6/2012
Summer vacation pass – Stagecoach offer a pass for the full length of the summer vacation – on sale at the end of the Summer term. Price for Summer vacation 2012 – £107.00.
On production of a valid purple card:
There is discount available during the Michaelmas term – £2 off a one term, £3 off a two term and £5 off a three term. There is no discount off an annual pass. It is also worth mentioning the bus company do not replace lost or stolen passes so we recommend you try and get the pass covered by your own insurance policy. You can do this by giving the insurance company a quick phone call and ask them to add the pass to your policy i.e. contents of your wallet/personal possessions. There may be an additional premium to pay for this.
If you are a member of University staff
You may wish to consider purchasing a bus pass using the Flexible Benefits system through Human Resources. This enables you to order a full annual pass and collect it at the start of the academic year but pay for it via your salary. Stagecoach rules about lost/stolen passes still apply to bus passes obtained through the Flexible Benefits scheme.
