Lancaster University Students’ Union ran an event in partnership with Lancaster University, to celebrate entrepreneurship and to raise the profile of the opportunities for innovative students on campus; whether it’s an idea for a global enterprise, a community project or a club or society innovation.
‘How To’ had over 25 different sessions for students or staff to choose from, with different days for different interests. Monday focused on self development; to further your career, to develop your passions into ideas and to build your skills. Clubs and societies had a vast range of sessions to choose from on Tuesday, whether you were interested in funding for a new project, looking to impress employers with extracurricular activities or expanding activities off campus further into the local Lancaster area. Entrepreneurs who were ready to take ideas into the vast world of business, attended sessions on Wednesday regarding how to get started, marketing concepts and avoiding the pitfalls of start ups. Social enterprise and community projects were the key focus to our sessions on Thursday, were you could choose from making a difference locally, how to become a social entrepreneur and using digital marketing to take ideas forward.
Lancaster University Students’ Union supports students, staff and graduates with their ideas for new businesses, social enterprises or community projects. Last year, 101 students engaged with a variety of different services that we provide; from meeting with our business advisor to accessing funding to support their ideas, cumulating in 91 new businesses being created and over £23,000 being accessed from a variety of pots of funding. We believe in supporting innovative activities and it is at the heart of what we do. If you have any ideas, please get in touch.
