Dancers from Lancaster University Students’ Union’s Dance Society (LUDanS) had a very successful visit to Durham University’s Dance competition, coming away with three trophies.
LUDans’ competition squad of 33 dancers competed against 11 different universities in six different categories, and were placed in three: third in intermediate ballet (choreographed by Laura Carroll), second in intermediate tap (choreographed by Azera Jones) and first in intermediate modern/jazz (choreographed by Emma Stafford). Even more impressive, LUDanS is a society run by students doing a wide variety of degrees, whereas many of the other teams were comprised solely of dance students.
LUDanS President Emma Stafford said “I am extremely proud of LUDanS, I feel privileged to be a part of it. We have improved each time that we have competed at Durham and it shows just how well we work together and how much talent there is in our dance society. Well done everyone.”
