Students recently held an event called “Still Human” to raise awareness of mental health issues which caught the attention of Stephen Fry.
Fry is a patron of the mental health charity Time To Change, which Still Human raised funds for. On the weekend of the event he tweeted to his 3 million followers “Good luck to @LancasterSU who are raising awareness of mental health issues at their university - #StillHuman - http://tinyurl.com/StillHuman”.

This message was then retweeted over 150 times by other users.
Still Human was held in Bowland and Lonsdale bars and featured performances including Natasha Gilbert, Jake Parker Bishop, Jess French, the Gospel Choir, Glee club, Underwater Gunfight, Priya Jadeja, Nathan Connell and Lancaster University Comedy society.
The University Counselling Service and Nightline had information stalls at the event enabling students to ask questions and find out about the support available to them. There were also food stalls from local Lancaster vendors.
Sam Norman, Furness College Equal Opportunities Officer and one of the event organisers said “Still Human set out to raise awareness of mental health issues on a university level and a national level, to point out where and how help is available and raise funds for the charity ‘Time To Change’. I’m delighted to say that it achieved just that. I’d also like to take this chance to thank everyone who was involved, we had a fantastic team working on it for months and without them the event would not have been the success that it was.”
